Federico Pignatelli, Pier59 Studios CEO

Prince Federico Pignatelli della Leonessa was born in Rome, Italy, in 1965, into a family of ancient Italian nobility with lineage tracing back to 900 AD and direct ties to Pope Innocenzo XII. Beginning his career in Italy, he initially ventured into real estate development and distinguished himself as a leading financial journalist in monetary policy.

Transitioning to international finance, Pignatelli held pivotal roles in Switzerland and London, serving as Managing Director for renowned investment banking and brokerage firms such as E.F. Hutton, Ladenburg & Thalmann, and Gruntal Co. Inspired by his enduring passion for photography, he later founded his investment banking firm, EuroCapital Partners. Driven by his unwavering dedication to the arts, Pignatelli established PIER59 STUDIOS, marking a pivotal moment in his career journey.

A Flash of History / The Origins of Pier59

From the original Pier59 site to the construction and creation of the original Pier59 Studios in 1993. It was the first stop for survivors on the Cunard Lines’ Carpathia before they docked a few blocks south at Pier54 to meet their loved ones. In 1995, Federico Pignatelli founded Pier59 Studios with the intent to repurpose it into the world’s leading studio complex in Manhattan’s fashionable Chelsea district.
